Bridging the gaps with education

The children of migrant construction workers often face significant barriers to accessing education, which can have long-lasting impacts on their development and future opportunities. Due to the temporary and shifting nature of their parents’ work, these children do not get any education or frequently experience instability in their schooling. Identifying this gap, Navneet Foundation supports Savera Site School and Child Care Centre project, in Gujarat, to ensure the children of migrant construction worker’s families are not deprived of education and care. The main objective of this arrangement is to provide a day care centre for children aged 1 to 3 years and an education centre for children aged 3 and above. This ensures that parents can focus on their employment peacefully while their children receive proper care and foundational education.
The child care centre has dedicated child caretakers for children under the age of three. For older children teachers are appointed to guide and teach reading, writing, arithmetic, and environmental studies, according to a scheduled timetable. Additionally, activities that boost self-confidence and self-esteem, such as value education, health and hygiene lessons, and various games, are included. Children also have the opportunity to explore their hidden talents through activities like music, dance, nursery rhymes, storytelling, drawing and crafts, and children’s games. These activities aim to foster their overall development and enhance their skills and creativity.
