Preserving Heritage...

Preserving and sustaining ancient folk and cultural art forms is essential for protecting our heritage and cultural identity. By actively promoting these traditions, we help ensure their continuation for future generations. We, at Navneet Foundation, firmly believe that through dedicated conservation efforts, we can keep alive the art, melodies, and stories of our ancestors, honouring the rich diversity and depth they bring to our culture.

In line with this vision, the Foundation proudly supports Riyas Shala, an initiative to offer training and resources to folk music artists. This project brings together experienced master artists who mentor and educate schoolchildren in traditional music, ensuring the preservation and continuation of their cultural heritage. The initiative is dedicated to safeguarding rare and endangered forms of folk music, such as ‘Waai’, a distinctive style of Sufi music on the brink of disappearance. In addition, under this project, village music festivals known as Reyan are organised to both promote and sustain the folk music tradition and participation from the village members at the ground level. These festivals feature artists who have mastered specific music forms, providing them with valuable individual exposure and recognition.
