Nutrition & Wellness
Nutrition is a critical part of health and development from birth. Specifically, during the medical treatment nutrition plays a pivotal role for the smooth and effective medical treatment for the patients dealing with various illnesses.
One of the most significant challenges in ensuring good nutrition in India is the lack of awareness and education about healthy eating habits. Many individuals, especially those from lower socioeconomic backgrounds, are not aware of the importance of a balanced diet and how it affects their overall health and ongoing treatment. It’s essential to understand that nutritious food doesn’t have to be expensive; it can be derived from indigenous foods that are both affordable and rich in essential nutrients.
For individuals with active tuberculosis, proper nutrition is vital to improving health outcomes, as malnutrition can worsen the disease. Socioeconomic factors also impact tuberculosis mortality rates. Recognising the importance of this issue, Navneet Foundation provides funding for awareness and nutritional counselling sessions. The Foundation also supplies nutritious kits with balanced diet that include a variety of foods from all food groups to support TB patients receiving treatment through BMC healthcare posts.
The Foundation also supports a residential training centre for differently abled girls from rural region in Gujarat by funding their nutritional needs. These girls often come from lower socioeconomic backgrounds and receive training to help them manage daily activities independently. Ensuring a balanced diet is crucial for these girls, as they are at increased risk of nutritional issues, which can lead to being either underweight or overweight.
